Words written
I attended an online community writing session this evening, it was such fun and I actually wrote words that weren’t academic or business related!
These are my words, as written in the session, no editing, just freely written.
The first prompt was “too strung out for ‘fine’!”
"I'm fine" I said to the lady in front of me with a smile that felt like a grimace. That's what I said but ... I am standing in a queue that stretched for seemingly miles (four people) and an appointment to get to and I hate being late and had planned for being early but then my trainer lace broke and I couldn't find a new one so I had to unlace another trainer and then I walked out the door and got in the car and was half way there when I realised I'd not got my water bottle so here I am in this never-moving queue and my anxiety is spiralling because I hate being late and now my brain is worrying about that thing I said at work today to the one person I should not say 'that thing' to and I hate being late and I am trying not to get flustered but no, I am too strung out to be fine.
The second prompt was “what is a conspiracy?”
Looking at each other they knew they were in trouble, they hadn't meant to break it but the rocket took on a mind of its own once it was let loose. They looked at each other again and then down to the ground. The dry dirt and scattering of stones and there, silver and deflated, was the weather balloon. Pete stuck his hands in his pocket with an attempt at nonchalance and then grinned. He took out the toy dinosaur from his pocket and started making footprints around the remnants of the balloon. The boys quickly caught on and started backing away, carrying the old rocket and scuffing their footprints as they went. All the way back to the tarmac, where they started running and laughing and planning their next adventure.
Hoping to join the next one in June.
